The 2nd edition of Ponte de Lima Horse Fair held 26  to 29  of June 2008 in Expolima was a remarkable success. Overcoming all the expectations, it has been visited by more than 100 thousand people. The equestrian tradition in the municipality and in the region led to setting up this fair. After two editions it is already considered one of the greatest events of the kind taking place in Portugal. The National Contest of Tourism Projects of Excellence, promoted by Turismo de Portugal, awarded a prize to Ponte de Lima Horse Fair, among 132 applications, for being one of the best Tourism animation events in the country. The jury, chaired by André Jordan, valued the ability to promote the notoriety of Portugal as a tourist destination. At the Prize Award Ceremony held on the 21st of January at Bolsa de Turismo de Lisboa, the State Secretary for Tourism, Bernardo Trindade, handed the prize to the Mayor of Ponte de Lima, who dedicated it to all of those who participate in the setting up of the event and to the ones who devote themselves to the promotion of equestrian art.
